Motherhood and Sundays

Hello there!

Happy Sunday.

So, I went to church today. I was reasonably on time (I'm usually quite late) and I felt good about it. However, I only got about 30 mins of the service. Why you ask?

Because for the other hour or so, I was mothering: supervising my 9 year old, 6 year old and 2 year old.

I could have chosen to get frustrated about the fact that I wasn't a part of the main service, but instead I took them to the cafe area where they could move around (and make noise).  Importantly, I decided to have a mini Sunday school with them...

Why? Because I wanted to play my role as a Christian mother. I wanted to use my skills, as a teacher, to impart something into their little lives in that moment in time. I didn't want that time at church to be insignificant and of no spiritual relevance.

This is a photo that my son took of me today, smiling through the unexpected and the changes and challenges that come with motherhood!

Thanks,

Mavela
